WEBBMASON MERGES WITH EXPERIENCED DIGITAL MANUFACTURER
Webb/Mason Commercial LLC (WMC) Is Born
Baltimore, Maryland, August 1, 2005 - As of August 1, 2005, the assets and employees of PhotoEffects were merged into a new company, controlled by WebbMason, called WebbMason Commercial LLC (WMC). WMC is the result of the company taking advantage of a unique set of circumstances within an unusual situation. While WebbMason Commercial is a de facto manufacturer, it does not mark a fundamental change in the company’s strategic approach to doing business primarily as a distributor.
WMC is a commercial manufacturer with digital capabilities. WMC handles high-quality color printing including the marketing materials for XM Satellite Radio, McCormick & Company, Discovery Channel, Marriott, and PBS. WMC produces many print-on-demand projects including stationery programs for T. Rowe Price and Legg Mason as well as POD hospital forms for the Greater Baltimore Medical Center, St. Joseph and Mercy Medical Centers. The digital equipment, both color and B&W is tied directly to WebbMason’s EPM Online portal.
The creation of WMC is great news for WebbMason for many reasons. First, WebbMason benefits by retaining all of the key players of PhotoEffects in this new entity. WMC will continue to provide important manufacturing services to WebbMason; in fact we’re expanding those services to include color digital print capabilities.
WMC will be located right next door to the WebbMason headquarters, offering their Mid-Atlantic offices a commercial manufacturer to present to clients for commercial, direct mail, print-on-demand, stationery and digital print programs.
Finally, WMC will benefit WebbMason’s bottom line. PhotoEffects has been in Chapter 11 Bankruptcy proceedings for the last year. Prior to the merger, the company emerged from bankruptcy and is profitable. This means WebbMason will benefit financially from its controlling share of profits generated by WebbMason Commercial.
